Geohazard Mitigation for the Palapa Ring Fiber Optic Infrastructure

• The Palapa Ring project involves constructing Indonesia’s national fiber optic backbone, spanning across challenging geological landscapes. This project specifically focused on identifying and mitigating risks to the fiber optic cables posed by active fault lines, landslide-prone regions, and underwater volcanic mountains. 

• Leveraging Topex gravity data and active fault information from BMKG, I conducted a detailed geophysical analysis to map and assess high-risk areas. The primary goal was to determine regions susceptible to geological disasters, such as ground shifts, that could disrupt the integrity of the Palapa Ring fiber optic network. Using advanced gravity data processing techniques, including First Horizontal Derivative (FHD) and Second Vertical Derivative (SVD), I identified fault locations and delineated buffer zones to quantify the risk levels. 

• This work provided actionable insights, enhancing the resilience of Indonesia’s telecommunication infrastructure by reducing the likelihood of geohazard-induced disruptions.

Internship in Earthquake Observation : May 2021 - Jun 2023

• Earthquake Data Processing: Collected and analyzed seismic data using Seiscomp3 software, focusing on the West Sumatra earthquake case study. 

• Seismic Monitoring: Conducted real-time monitoring and contributed to identifying seismic parameters such as magnitude, depth, and epicenter. 

• Tectonic Hazard Assessment: Supported the identification of active fault zones in West Sumatra to enhance disaster mitigation strategies.
